Example

As the above example demonstrates, to open a link in a new window, you simply add target='_blank' to the anchor tag. Everything else stays as a normal link.

If you have many links, and you add target='_blank' to each one, they will all open in their own blank window. This could become quite annoying for the user—especially if you have many links that each open in their own tab or window. Users could avoid clicking on links if a blank window opens every time they click.

There is a way to overcome this issue. Read on…

Reloading the Blank Window/Tab

Instead of calling your window _blank, you can give it a name of your choosing. Then all URLs will load in that same tab (as long as you use the same name).

For example, if you have a policy of loading all external links in a separate tab, you could call that tab, say, external. Then each link that contains target='external' will open in that window/tab. Doing this ensures that new windows aren't going to be popping up every time a user clicks on a link.

There are other keywords that can be used with target as well as various implications depending on the names of windows/tabs that are already open, whether they're sandboxed, etc. See the W3C website if you're interested.

You can also use JavaScript to open a new window. Using JavaScript, you can also specify what the window should look like. This is a common technique for creating a 'popup window'. For more info, see Popup Windows.

First T-Mobile Phone

• Insert the SIM card that came the phone and follow the setup wizard.
• Apple iOS phones arrive with the SIM card pre-inserted.
• When prompted, sign into or create a new account (Google, Apple, BlackBerry, or Windows) based on phone type.
• Follow any additional prompts and begin using your phone on the T-Mobile network.

T-Mobile Upgrade

• If you are upgrading from one T-Mobile phone to a new one, follow the applicable steps below.
• These steps also apply for moving from your BYOD phone you are using on the T-Mobile network to a new T-Mobile phone.

Android

Let's set up your new Android phone.

We recommend you transfer your data with the app provided by the manufacturer of your new phone (if they provide one). They can be downloaded on the Play store if they aren't preloaded on the phone. The following is a list of safe apps provided by the manufacturers.

If a manufacturer provided app isn't available these steps will help you switch from one Android phone to another:

Old Phone

1. Backup your data on the old phone by tapping Settings > System > Advanced > Backup.
2. Make sure Backup is turned on.
   • If backup is off: turn it on and wait for the device to backup your data.
   • If backup is on: confirm it recently backed up your data. If your data was not recently backed up, back up the device before proceeding.

New Phone

1. Transfer your data to the new phone by tapping Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Google.
2. Sign in to your Google account where your data is backed up.
3. You will be asked if you would like to download your synced information, tap Yes.
4. Depending on the amount of data backed up it may take a while to download. You must wait for the download to be complete.

5. Once complete, follow the setup wizard on the new device.

Quick start

1. If transferring service from one eSIM to another, ensure you’re able to transfer the eSIM. If you can’t, the option won’t be available.
   • Your phone is currently on an Apple iOS 13.1+ eSIM.
   • You are transferring to a new phone with Apple iOS 13.1+.
   • Both phones are on Wi-Fi so they can complete the transfer.
   • Use the same Apple ID on both phones.
   • Not available for Prepaid, Government, or T-Mobile for Business accounts with >12 lines.
2. Sign into your new phone using your existing Apple ID to restore your contacts, music, email, calendars, bookmarks, photos, and other data.

6. During Quick Start, if you were using an iPhone eSIM with iOS 13.1 or later, you may be able to transfer T-Mobile service to a new iPhone eSIM with iOS 13.1 or later.
   1. Place your current iPhone and new iPhone near each other.
   2. On your current iPhone, Set Up New iPhone will appear and the animation will appear on the new phone.
   3. Hold the scan the animation over the current iPhone camera. On the new iPhone, Transfer Cellular Plan willappear.
   4. Select the line to transfer, and tap Continue.
   5. After completing Quick Start, on your new phone, go to Settings > Cellular to check that the T-Mobile number is active.
      1. If there is a red ! icon beside your number, tap the phone number under Cellular Plans and tap Activate Cellular Plan. Follow the instructions on both current iPhone and new iPhone.
      2. On the new iPhone, tap OK on the pop-up To Complete this transfer, approve it on the iPhone currently using this cellular plan.
      3. On the old iPhone, tap Transfer on the pop-up Do you want to transfer +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx to a new iPhone?
      4. On the new iPhone, tap the Settings notification Finish Setting up your T-Mobile Cellular Plan that appeared from the top of the screen.
      5. On the new iPhone, tap Continue on Finish Setting Up Cellular Plan.
      6. On the new iPhone, tap Begin Transfer.
   6. Complete setting up the new iPhone.

Manual transfer

If the two devices are set up already, you can manually start an eSIM transfer from one iPhone to another.

1. Ensure you’re able to transfer the eSIM. If you can’t, the option won’t be available.
   • Your phone is currently on an Apple iOS 13.1+ eSIM.
   • You are transferring to a new phone with Apple iOS 13.1+.
   • Both phones are on Wi-Fi so they can complete the transfer.
   • Use the same Apple ID on both phones.
   • Not available for Prepaid, Government, or TFB customers with >12 lines.
2. Place the current iPhone and new iPhone near each other.
3. Sign into the new iPhone using the same Apple ID and password as the current iPhone.
4. On the current iPhone, tap Allow on the Allow Apple ID Sign In Requested popup. Apple ID Verification Code will appear. Enter the 6 digit code on the new iPhone.
5. On the new iPhone, go to Settings, then Cellular, tap Add Cellular Plan.
6. Select the line to transfer, and tap Add Cellular Plan.
7. Follow the instructions on both current iPhone and new iPhone.
   • On the new iPhone, tap OK on the pop-up To Complete this transfer, approve it on the iPhone currently using this cellular plan.
   • On the current iPhone, tap Transfer on the pop-up Do you want to transfer +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx to a new iPhone?
   • On the new iPhone, tap the Settings notification Finish Setting up your T-Mobile Cellular Plan that appeared from the top of the screen.
   • On the new iPhone, tap Continue on Finish Setting Up Cellular Plan.
8. If you receive an additional screen, Finish Setting Up Cellular Plans, tap Continue, then tap Begin Transfer.
9. Complete setting up your new iPhone.

Error while transferring eSIM

No service on both old hone and new iPhone

1. If your old iPhone loses service, but you don’t get service on your new iPhone, then you may have lost Wi-Fi connection temporarily during the transfer. The device may also show an iOS or T-Mobile error.
2. Go to Download your eSIM settings.
3. Scan the QR code with your new iPhone.
4. Check if your new phone starts to update and get service.
5. If your eSIM does not activate on your new iPhone, please contact us so we can transfer your service for you.
